Morneau Shepell Ltd. has appointed Mazen Shakeel as vice-president and practice leader for asset and risk management, effective July 2019.
In the new role, he’ll assist plan sponsors with investment, outsourced chief investment officer, risk management and transfer-related needs.
As an actuary with nearly 30 years of experience, Shakeel’s previous roles span the actuarial consulting and investment worlds, as well as defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans.
Prior to joining Morneau Shepell, Shakeel worked at Sun Life Financial for more than five years as a vice-president of its international investment centre and as vice-president of market development for group retirement services. Before Sun Life, Shakeel spent more than two decades at Aon in various roles, starting back in 1989 when the firm was still known as Hewitt Associates.
“Mazen has a great range of expertise and we are pleased to have him lead our growing asset and risk management business,” said Idan Shlesinger, Morneau Shepell’s president of retirement solutions and executive vice-president, in a press release.
