Cadillac Fairview launches app to help shoppers

Cadillac Fairview, the real estate investment arm of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, is launching a mobile app to help people use its shopping centres more safely and efficiently.
The app, called LiVE, provides users with a comprehensive mall directory, giving them navigation cues to help them plan the most efficient shopping routes. It also provides information regarding coronavirus-related safety, such as up-to-date mall hours, including which specific retailers are open, as well as locations of hand-sanitizer stations. Further, it allows users to tag individual products in the app for quick recall when shopping and pushes special offers for Cadillac Fairview’s retail partners.
“We set out to address retailer and consumer pain points across the entire shopping journey from discovery to delivery,” said Jose Ribau, executive vice-president of digital and innovation at Cadillac Fairview, in a press release. “Armed with those insights and today’s accelerated pace of change we have an opportunity to move up the launch of products that were on our future development roadmap. The success of CF and our retail clients is inextricably linked and through a focus on digitizing the experience, we are committed to strengthening our relationships with our retail partners and helping them as they navigate this unprecedented time.”
Cadillac Fairview’s move comes after Ivanhoé Cambridge, the real estate arm of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, announced a partnership with Lightspeed POS Inc. to help small and medium-sized tenants in its Canadian shopping centres by providing free access to two e-commerce solutions for a year.
