The deadline for submissions is February 27, 2004. |

Submissions must include a short (approx. five pages, 2,500 words) practitioner version article based on the original research paper, as well as the full research paper. Although the research papers will be evaluated by the judging panel, the practitioner-version article of the award recipient will appear in Canadian Investment Review.

One paper will be selected as the award recipient, and a single total prize of $10,000 will be awarded to the authors bylined on the article. In the case of multiple authors, the writers may instruct the Canadian Investment Review how they wish the award to be split among them. |

The judging panel will be comprised of leading academics and practitioners. |

Unpublished papers in final or near-final stages of review by academic journals are eligible for entry.

A revised version of the winning practitioner paper will be published in the Canadian Investment Review in the 2004 calendar year. |

The 2003 award was presented to Scott Anderson of Ryerson University in Toronto and Yisong Tian of York University in Toronto, for their paper, "Incentive Fees, Valuation and Performance of Labour Sponsored Investment Funds."
In 2002, the award was presented to Kai Li of the University of British Columbia for her paper "What Explains the Growth of Global Equity Markets?"
The first annual research award was presented to Lawrence Kryzanowski of Concordia University and research analyst Jocelyne Ménard, who co-authored "Migration Behaviour of Long-term Bond Ratings of Canadian Corporate Issuers."
