Caroline Cakebread
Caroline is the editor of Canadian Investment Review. As editor, she works with the investment industry and the site’s board to produce thought-leading content for She also works closely with the conference and Online Debates Team to ensure that content meets the needs of Canada’s top pension investors. In addition to her role at, she acts as an independent policy researcher and strategic communications consultant for financial institutions, governments and pension funds. She is the author of several research papers on financial literacy and investor education and is currently writing a book on the asset-backed commercial paper crisis for University of Toronto Press (forthcoming 2012). She received her MA and PhD from the University of Birmingham in the U.K., has taught both undergraduate and graduate students and has published numerous articles and essays on Shakespeare, education, and women’s issues.

Jennifer Hughey
Senior Editor, Conferences
Jennifer is senior editor of conferences with Rogers Financial Services Group. Jennifer is a project management specialist, organizing the workflow schedules of the Benefits Canada, Working Well, Canadian Investment Review and various custom events. Jennifer is also responsible for content development of event agendas and recruiting engaging and informative speakers. She is an experienced conference editor with specialities in web development within the financial services industry and for combining editorial and marketing processes. She also integrated webinar/webcast mediums and social media into the editorial calendar for the Financial Services Group, eventually acting as the go-to for webinar technology and execution. Her areas of strength include customer service, research and organizational skills, impeccable work ethic and dedication to any and all projects involved in. Jennifer received her BA in Journalism from Ryerson University. She was recently promoted to senior editor, conferences and has been with Rogers for four years.

Editor, Conferences and Online Events

Laurie is the editor of conferences and online events with
Rogers Publishing Financial Services Group. She leads the development of content and recruitment of engaging speakers for the Benefits Canada, Canadian Investment Review (CIR) and Canadian Insurance Top Broker conferences and web editor of CIR Online Debates. Laurie is responsible for managing the conference websites and execution of live webinars. Prior to recently joining the Business and Professional Publishing Group, Laurie was involved in working on various corporate events including selling a number of conference products within multiple industries and organizing scientific meetings throughout Australia. Laurie has an Honours BComm from McMaster University.

Previously, he was the publisher of the Advisor Group, which publishes Advisor’s Edge, Advisor’s Edge Report, Conseiller and He joined Advisor’s Edge in 1999 and has extensive knowledge of the financial services industry—specifically product suppliers, technology and distribution.

Francesca is the senior account manager for Benefits Canada, Avantages, Canadian Investment Review and Working Well. Her role with the Business and Professional Publishing Group entails bringing advertisers together with the magazine readership in print, online, research and Face-to-Face event mediums. Francesca celebrated 15 years with Rogers Publishing in 2009. She has an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Consumer Studies from Guelph University.

Robert is the National Account Manager for Avantages, Benefits Canada and Canadian Investment Review. Prior to joining the Financial Services Group at Rogers Publishing, Robert held various business development positions at IQPC (the International Quality & Productivity Center), a world leader in conferences and events.  In his current role, Robert is responsible for overseeing and developing a base of existing accounts while building new business in the areas of print, online, custom publishing, conferences and research.

Andrea Phills is the Account Manager for the Benefits Canada, Avantages, Canadian Investment Review and the Canadian Institutional Investment Network. Andrea comes with sales and marketing experience in corporate sponsorship, B2B and events from previous positions within Active Media Services and IQPC Exchange (the International Quality & Productivity Center Exchange division) where she was responsible for business development through corporate sponsorship in the conferencing industry; which catered to the HR, Corporate Finance, Shared Services, IT and the Legal markets. In her current role, Andrea is responsible for managing current clients while building new business opportunities in the areas of the CIIN Database, print, online, custom publishing, research and events.
