Dinner Speaker: John Ibbitson

John Ibbitson is one of Canada's foremost writers on political affairs. His columns for The Globe and Mail set the standard for political analysis across the country.

Ibbitson joined The Globe and Mail in 1999, after a decade of writing on municipal and provincial issues for Southam newspapers. He has been a columnist for The Citizen, the National Post and The Globe and Mail. He has worked City Hall, Queen's Park and been the Washington Bureau Chief and has been political affairs columnist based in Ottawa since August 2002. There is no region of politics that John Ibbitson has not reported on. He is also the acclaimed author of two books on Ontario politics: Promised Land: Inside the Mike Harris Revolution (1997, Prentice Hall) and Loyal No More: Ontario's Struggle for a Separate Destiny.

John Ibbitson's newest political explication will be out in 2005. The focus of his new work is what The Next Canada is going to look like - and how we are going to get there. In times of great chance, John Ibbitson's perspective is a necessary force for balanced news.
