Established in March 1998, the Bonham Centre for Finance is a premier
research and teaching centre at the Rotman School of Management,
which has a long--standing reputation for its superior work in finance.
Four key areas of activity form the basis of the Bonham Centre's
role at Rotman:
Research
The Bonham Centre for Finance encourages and provides funding for
innovative research projects related to financial engineering, financial
economics, corporate financial management, investment management
and financial institution management. These research projects are
undertaken by the Centre's complement of renowned faculty members,
who specialize in different fields within finance.
In addition to these traditional areas of finance research, the
Centre also seeks to encourage research that involves faculty members
in areas other than finance, including such issues as marketing
of financial services and organizational strategy for financial
institutions.
Courses
Renowned for its expertise in the finance field, the Rotman School
of Management attracts many of North America's top students to its
MBA program. Students are offered a choice of three areas of specialization
within the finance field, including investment banking; risk management
and financial engineering; and funds management. Over half of Rotman's
MBA students major in finance, and as the program is widely recognized
by employers as the finest finance-oriented MBA in Canada, many
obtain jobs in the finance sector upon graduation.
Links With the Financial Community
The Bonham Centre for Finance is dedicated to fostering links with
organizations that share its commitment to the continuing evolution
of the finance field. In addition to its links with the Finance
and Research Trading Laboratory and the TSE Capital Markets Institute
at Rotman, the Centre is active in building relationships with the
financial community in Toronto, bridging the gap between the academic
and business worlds. Seminars, workshops and conferences are just
some of the activities that bring together great minds working in
finance to discuss the latest trends, issues and findings. And the
influential network of MBA alumni working in the finance field is
increasing in number every year.
FinanceLink
The Bonham Centre for Finance publishes a regular newsletter that
reviews research and teaching activities in finance at Rotman, along
with emerging issues in the field. This flagship publication of
the Centre is available to alumni, donors and friends of the Bonham
Centre for Finance.
