Zainul Ali
Zainul rejoined Towers Perrin in July 2004 as a senior member of the asset consulting team. Prior to that he was vice-president, strategic research and risk management at OMERS, and before that treasurer for a large public sector organization. Zainul is a certified general accountant (CGA) and a CFA.

Ken is director of investments for the Alberta Teachers' Retirement Fund Board. Ken holds a CFA designation and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a bachelor of commerce.

Clark Binkley
Clark is managing director and chief investment officer with responsibility for equity capital raising, client account management, and investment strategy and research at Hancock Timber Resource Group. Prior to joining HTRG,
Clark was dean of the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia. He has served on the boards of directors of several publicly traded forest products companies and private timberland ventures, and has consulted to numerous forest products companies, governmental agencies and private conservation groups. Andrew is chief executive officer of Nunavut Trust, as well as a board member and the treasurer of Tradex Management Inc. and the Tradex Equity Fund. Previously, he was the manager of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) Pension Fund and held various senior planning and financial positions at CMHC. He has an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, where he specialized in finance and institutional investment management.

John is the treasurer and assistant comptroller at Syncrude Canada Ltd. With the company since 1983, he has also held the roles of manager, treasury services and manager, information management. John is currently one of two western representatives on the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants' board of directors. He started his career at the Bank of Canada and also worked at Chase Econometrics, Crown Life, and Nomura Securities. Warren is Scotiabank's chief economist and a vice-president, and has been with the bank for over 26 years. His Scotia Economics team provides in-depth research on global economic, policy and financial market developments. Before joining Scotiabank, Warren spent a number of years working in the research department at the Bank of Canada and teaching in the economics departments of several Canadian universities. He is currently on the board of the University of Guelph Heritage Fund and is on the board of advisors of the Sobey School of Business at Saint MaryÕs University at Halifax. Warren earned an MA in Economics at the University of Guelph in 1971 and was awarded his doctorate from the University of Toronto in 1977.

Denis Larose is director, investments and chief investment officer for the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) pension plan. In this capacity, he oversees the investments of a $4 billion fund supporting the pension benefits of 25,000 active and retired members. He is based in
Mississauga, Ontario. Denis joined CAAT in April 2004, having previously spent seven years as a senior investment consultant with a large actuarial benefits and investments consulting firm. He has worked in the industry for 21 years. Denis graduated with a bachelor's degree in actuarial sciences from Laval University in 1983. Eleanor is currently director, financial planning and analysis in the treasury department at Aliant Inc. Part of this role is to serve as the senior management person with direct responsibility for Aliant's pension plans, including pension fund investment, actuarial valuations, fund governance and pension accounting. Claude joined the Quebec Pension Plan in 1981 and is the chief of evaluation. His responsibilities include the development policy for the Quebec Pension Plan, the supplemental pension plans and the family allowances. He is the secretary for the investment policy committee and develops the financial planning tools for retirement. He graduated from Laval University with degrees in sociology and economics. Marc is director, pension administration at the

Before his time on Wall Street, he had a productive period as an academic from 1974 to 1986, mainly as Professor of Finance and Department Head at the University of Arizona. Elizabeth Woodman
Elizabeth is a senior analyst at the Bank of Canada's financial markets department. Her work has mainly been related to monitoring and analysis of domestic and global financial markets, domestic debt operations, and monetary policy implementation. Recently Elizabeth has been involved in a bankwide project looking at how to improve financial data available to researchers working on issues related to the efficiency of Canadian capital markets. She is also working on a project investigating the investment behavior of pension funds from a risk management perspective. back to top
