A division of Maple, Maple Financial Alternative Investments was established in 1998 to design innovative investment vehicles seeking to provide attractive returns with low risk and diversification from equity and bond markets. Maple operates with over $300 million of shareholders’ capital, $17 billion in assets and over 400 employees in offices in Toronto, Frankfurt, London, New York, Milan, Amsterdam and Sydney. Significant shareholders include National Bank of Canada (24%) and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board (27%). In addition to local regulatory regulation of its operating divisions, Maple is subject to global regulatory reporting requirements of the Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht (BaFin - the German Financial Supervisory Authority).
