YMG Capital Management Inc. was founded in 1983. Today the firm has approximately $15 billion in assets under management and employs 45 investment professionals and support staff with offices in Toronto and Montreal.

YMG is known for providing disciplined quantitative investment strategies, product innovation and dedication to a high level of client service. The firm is a leading provider of immunization strategies, active fixed income, tactical asset allocation, tactical currency allocation and non-cash investment management in Canada. YMG’s active institutional product offerings also include income trusts, balanced, Canadian equities, US equities high yield fixed income. All are bottom-up, fundamentally based valuation driven products.

Our experience in customizing fixed income solutions for some of the largest insurance companies, endowments, foundations and pension plans has formed the basis for our reputation as one of the premier quantitative risk controlled managers in Canada.

In 1992, YMG entered into a licensing arrangement with First Quadrant, LP out of Pasadena whereby YMG markets and distributes First Quadrant’s tactical asset allocation, active currency, market neutral strategies and global macro processes to the Canadian pension community. These quantitative products use rigorous research techniques to identify fundamentally based drivers of capital market activity.

Recent research initiatives include customized liability benchmarking for active immunization and increasing the alpha from plan’s traditional fixed income allocation. The latter is a product that combines YMG’s active fixed income with an overlay strategy from First Quadrant to deliver 150 basis points over the benchmark at a lower level of risk.
